I recently had my very first trip to France and oh man did I love it! I’d come for a girly city break to Paris with my aunt and it was just fabulous.
On Thursday morning I woke up in the glorious city of Paris. Ok so that gives the impression that I woke up bubbly and bright-eyed.. in reality I woke up very very bleary-eyed early on Thursday after being used to sleeping in lots since exams were over. But fortunately I woke only to remember that I was in the charming city of par-eee!
We woke up, got dressed and ambled into the very beautiful Saint Germaine de Pres for some much-needed cafe-au-lait’s to wake us up before beginning our first full day of Paris.
As I’d just got my new camera (link here) I was super snap-happy so took a few a lot of pics along the way…
We had our coffees and croissants and headed across Paris’ Pont des Artes bridge towards the Louvre. This is widely known as a really romantic place where lovers purchase a lock to write their names and declarations of their love for one another, for all to see, pour le vie, forever and padlock it on forever and always! They then throw the keys into the river and live happy ever after…
…I then found out that once-a-year the Parisian government cut off all the padlocks to start afresh and all previous locks are discarded. Awkward turtle! Haha very awks and way to kill the romance!
We continued on our long walk past the Louvre, Rue di Rivoli, Jardin de tuileries and I had a real nice stroll through the beautiful little glamorous area around Rue Royale.
A very beautiful start to Paris… to be continued
