I’ve known these two since we were kiddies in school, we’ve grown up together through good times and bad and I’ve relied upon them for reassuringly smiley times and clothes-borrowing for many many years now! They’re relaxed, fun and don’t take themselves too seriously. Separately we are pretty sensible, relatively chilled and pretty much normal but put us together and things tend to get just a liddddle bit crazy! Usually we end up having the kind of nights that are random and unplanned, last-minute, at places that aren’t particularly grown up – which is lucky because together we aren’t all that grown up either!
Not too long ago was Monica’s birthday, and in an attempt to do something different from our usual last-minute madness, we booked in at Beach Blanket Babylon in Notting Hill for a post-birthday catch up supper.
Beach Blanket Babylon is a converted mansion and ooh boy is it beautiful. A very pretty, decadent entrance greets you once you’ve walked in. It’s very magical-fairytale-house themed. We were taken down to the bottom floor to a gorgeous candlelit room with a toasty fire and beautiful architecture and lots of cushions to get comfy with.
I took a few snaps to take you readers along with us… the ambience and service is fantastic but the lighting is impressively dark so apologies for the poor photography!
And so are my girlfriends:
Gifts and hugs were exchanged.
Rigatoni
Braised lamb shank with sweet potato
and my favourite… pan seared scallops with crispy parma ham
Decent food, good service, great ambiance and the best company!
